美國Luminant電力（Luminant Generation Company）旗下Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Company日前就Comanche Peak電廠新建的3、4號機與日本三菱重工（Mitsubishi Heavy Industries , MHI）進行工程與採購談判。雙方並於7月1日簽訂合作備忘錄（memorandum of understanding, MoU）。TXU於2007年3月，決定採用三菱重工所設計的美國先進壓水式反應器（US-Advanced Pressurized Water Reactor, US-APWR）作為Comanche Peak-3、4號機。該機組發電容量1,700 MWe，堪稱世界最大的壓水式核能機組。Comanche Peak Nuclear Power是Luminant電力與三菱重工共同投資的子公司。後者的美國子公司 – 三菱核能系統（Mitsubishi Nuclear Energy Systems）也包含在合作備忘錄中。Luminant電力在2008年9月相核管會申請Comanche Peak-3、4號機的《建廠與營運複合執照，Combined Construction and Operating License, COL》，也是US-APWR在北美市場首座採用者。目前US-APWR還在核管會進行反應器設計認證審查中。
